BREAKING NEWS! The TSA has delayed their implementation of the new rules that will allow golf clubs to be carried on to flights. They say it is a "temporary" delay centered around the issue of whether or not they will allow knives. We are lobbying them to separate knives from the decision and go ahead and lift the ban on golf clubs. But as of today, they have not approved that request. So for a while longer, you cannot carry golf clubs on commercial airlines flying to or from the United States. Or course, you can put your Whole-In-One Club and/or other telescopic clubs in your checked bag...still a lot less expensive than paying the extra fees to check a full set of clubs!

After years of lobbying with the United States Transportation Security Administration (TSA), they announced in March that they were going to allow our customers to carry their telescopic golf clubs onto flights beginning on April 25, 2013. Immediately after 9-11, they banned all golf clubs and other sporting equipment from being carried onto planes. Their reasoning was that clubs could be used as a weapon. We immediately began a letter-writing campaign that has included repeated requests that they re-visit this issue. We argued that no terrorist would ever use a golf club as a weapon because it would be too easy to overcome, and it unnecessarily interfered with the freedom of Americans.

When they lift this restriction, it will not only be exciting for our regular customers, but also for our Reps. Before 9-11, I always carried multiple clubs with me. I would get the attention of the pilot as I entered the plane, invite him or her to come back after the plane reached altitude, and I would show the club to all those around. My record is 11 clubs sold on one flight!

With baggage fees for a full set of golf clubs at $25 to $50 per flight ($50 to $10 round trip just to play golf!!!), it has been very economical to take one or two of our golf clubs with you in your checked bag. When the TSA implements the new rules that lift the restriction, it will be even more convenient for those who will be able to carry it on the flight.
